Fulfilling covenants is a divine command. Breaking them is betrayal. The revolution opposed a treacherous regime, yet some opposition did the same.
A verse on the Forehead of the Revolution
With Dr. Zaher Baadarani – President of the Syrian Future Movement
Episode Title: "Keeping the Covenant"
Allah says in the Qur'an (Al-Baqarah 2:100):
"Is it not (true) that every time they make a covenant, a group of them throws it away? Rather, most of them do not believe."
God commanded His servants to fulfill their covenants:
"And fulfill the covenant of Allah when you have taken it." (An-Nahl 16:91)
Also:
"And fulfill (every) covenant. Verily, the covenant will be questioned about." (Al-Isra 17:34)
Breaking a covenant is considered betrayal, placing one among the ranks of hypocrites, as Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:
"Four traits make someone a pure hypocrite… and if he makes a promise, he breaks it."
And he also said:
"There is no faith in one who has no trustworthiness, and no religion for one who does not keep his promise."
The message questions Syrian opposition factions:
Have you fulfilled your promises to the people who trusted you as their representatives?
The Syrian revolution began against a regime that betrayed its people and killed the innocent.
But now, many opposition leaders are absent, enjoying luxury abroad while their people suffer.
