Dr. Zaher warns: youth-driven takfir over minor issues threatens society. We need unity, not exclusion.
A Verse on the Forehead of the Revolution
By Dr. Zaher Badaraani
Verse: “And they say, ‘None shall enter Paradise except one who is a Jew or a Christian.’ These are their desires. Say, ‘Produce your proof, if you are truthful.’”
In this final part of a three-episode discussion on thought and takfir (excommunication), Dr. Zaher highlights the immense danger of declaring other Muslims as disbelievers. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:
- “If a man says to his brother ‘O disbeliever,’ then it will return to one of them.”
- “Declaring a Muslim a disbeliever is like killing him.”
- “If it is not true, it returns to the one who said it.”
The most dangerous threat to our revolution—and to our Islamic societies—is the widespread, reckless labeling of others as outside the faith, especially among the youth. While an elder’s misuse of takfir is serious, its adoption by zealous, impulsive youth turns it into a ticking bomb.
