Episode Title: “Types of Hearts in the Qur’an”
Allah says:
“Then your hearts became hardened after that, being like stones or even harder...” [Al-Baqarah: 74]
The Qur’an categorizes hearts into two symbolic types: white (pure) and black (corrupt).
White (pure) hearts include:
- The tranquil heart: “Truly, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest.”
- The sound heart: “Except he who comes to Allah with a sound heart.”
- The repentant heart: “Who fears the Most Merciful in unseen and comes with a returning heart.”
- The fearful heart: “The believers are those whose hearts tremble when Allah is mentioned.”
- The softened heart: “Their skins and hearts soften to the remembrance of Allah.”
- The pious heart: “For indeed it is from the piety of hearts.”
- The firm hearts: “And We strengthened their hearts.”
- The humble hearts: “Their hearts humble to Him.”
- The trembling hearts: “Hearts that Day will tremble.”
- The united hearts: “And He united their hearts.”
Black (corrupt) hearts include:
- The *harsh heart*: “Had you been harsh and hard-hearted, they would have dispersed.”
- The *deviant hearts*: “Those in whose hearts is deviation.”
- The *heedless heart*: “Do not obey the one whose heart We made heedless.”
- The *hard heart*: “Their hearts became hardened.”
- The *sealed hearts*: “Our hearts are wrapped.”
- The *sick heart*: “In their hearts is a disease.”
- The *stamped heart*: “Allah has sealed their hearts.”
- The *blinded hearts*: “Those whose hearts Allah has sealed.”
These types reflect people’s spiritual states and how close or far they are from the truth and divine guidance.
