The real problem in Syria is the absence of genuine political participation, despite laws and legislation formally permitting it.
We reject the idea of excluding any political group, regardless of its nature.
We believe it is essential to distinguish between individual criminal acts and the political communities from which the perpetrators may have emerged. The former must be handled by the judiciary, holding the criminals accountable without threatening the security and stability of their ethnic, sectarian, or religious group. As for political communities, we see no justification for banning their participation; their legitimacy must be decided by parliament and the people's choice.
Political participation is a right for all Syrian citizens—except those whose hands are stained with blood or who have been proven to harm their people.
Replacing the sovereignty of the tyrant with the sovereignty of the people depends on a healthy practice of political life. It is the key to a real solution in Syria.
