"A comprehensive vision of public freedoms as a cornerstone for building a democratic Syrian state based on dignity and rights".
We believe that public freedoms are a set of recognized human rights enjoyed and exercised voluntarily by the individual.
They are considered fundamental at a certain level of civilization, making their protection a legal obligation.
The state must guarantee them, ensure they are not violated, and clarify the mechanisms for their protection.
We believe in the necessity of enhancing personal rights and freedoms, such as the right to live a dignified life, equality before the law, and the prevention of arbitrary arrest, exile, or exposure to forms of torture.
We believe in individual freedom and the necessity of non-interference in people's private lives.
This includes the right to movement, nationality, marriage, ownership, and other rights.
We strive to promote spiritual, civil, and political freedom, provided it does not infringe on the freedoms of others.
These include the right to thought, opinion, religion or irreligion, and the right to establish parties, associations, and unions, as well as the right to peaceful protest.
We work to entrench the Universal Declaration of Human Rights issued by the United Nations in 1948, which affirms the right to exercise public freedoms for all individuals without discrimination based on gender, color, race, or cultural affiliation.
We support the declaration’s distinction between civil rights, such as equality and protection from torture or arbitrary detention, the right to mobility, settlement, and family rights, and political rights, such as freedom of expression and the right to join unions, parties, and associations.
We believe in the relativity of freedoms in terms of place, time, state intervention during normal or exceptional circumstances, the importance of different types of freedoms, or the individual trends that distinguish between individual and collective freedoms.
We consider that a balance is necessary between all of these, with no domination of individual freedom over collective freedom or vice versa.
We believe in the important role of law in protecting public freedoms through their recognition in legislation and regulations, whether foundational (the constitution) or organizational (bylaws), by setting specific mechanisms and providing institutions that guarantee this.
We seek to enhance economic and social development through public freedoms that create a favorable environment for investment and innovation.
We aim to empower individuals to participate in making decisions that affect their lives and contribute to building a healthy democratic society.
We stress the necessity of protecting individuals from abuses by authorities and ensuring that every person in Syrian society can live with dignity and freedom without discrimination.
We believe in the importance of academic freedoms and the arts, which guarantee individuals the right to artistic creativity and scientific research.
We stress the importance of giving special attention to Syria’s unique context regarding public freedoms.
We emphasize the need to protect the freedom of various minorities from any form of persecution, within the state’s mechanisms for safeguarding both public and private freedoms.
