We believe in the necessity of preserving historical archaeological monuments and restoring those that have been damaged through skilled and meticulous craftsmanship, according to globally recognized conditions governed by a set of principles agreed upon by experts in heritage protection.

We see the importance of cooperating and coordinating with international organizations concerned with antiquities, as well as with civil society organizations at the local, regional, and international levels, in addition to universities and associations specialized in archaeology.
Cooperation with leading global archaeologists is also essential to protect Syrian antiquities and to work on recovering stolen artifacts.

We emphasize the distinction between restoration—which means the maintenance and permanent preservation of antiquities—and proactive protection to prevent damaging factors from reaching them in the first place.

We consider archaeological monuments to be an integral part of our cultural heritage and national history, and we view their preservation as a supreme national duty and responsibility.

We proceed from the principle of national sovereignty in all our positions and actions related to Syria’s historical antiquities, and we stress the national right to control these treasures and make appropriate decisions on how to protect and manage them.

We believe that historical antiquities play a crucial role in strengthening national identity and fostering a deep connection to history, land, and homeland.
These relics reflect the character, image, and development of our cultural heritage and contribute to reinforcing the Syrians’ historical and cultural identity.

We find it essential to provide opportunities for education and awareness regarding national history and culture, thereby deepening loyalty to Syria as a homeland.

We believe in the importance of connecting the present with the past and the past with the future by acquiring a cultural national identity that is adaptable and responsive to social, political, cultural, and historical realities.

We strive to empower Syrian youth to volunteer and participate in activities related to antiquities through organizing fundraising campaigns, restoring monuments, hosting exhibitions and seminars, and engaging in artistic projects that depict and promote archaeological heritage.

We call for the precise documentation of Syrian antiquities by preparing a database of archaeological sites, including photos and descriptive information for each site, under the supervision of academic specialists.

We believe in giving special attention to archaeological landmarks damaged by war, working toward their restoration and reconstruction using deep technical expertise and specialized archaeological knowledge.

We stress the need to train archaeological personnel to work in museums and heritage sites through workshops and training programs, and to enhance and fully support academic and research-based specialization in this field.

We call for the protection of antiquities from looting and destruction by securing archaeological sites and museums, and preventing unlicensed and unscientific excavations.

We aim to secure support and assistance from international organizations and friendly countries interested in historical antiquities, considering them a human treasure of universal significance regardless of race, nationality, or culture.

We advocate for the activation of the “Antiquities Endowment” law and encourage religious leaders to establish a dedicated fund to support the protection of national antiquities, viewing this effort as both a religious and national obligation.
